Jack Dudley started repairing vehicles in Brooke Motors in Brighton Le Sands in 1954, and sold his first car there in 1955. At that time, we were Vauxhall, Renault, Jaguar/Daimler dealers and employed over 50 people after expanding in Brooke Road over the next 15 years, winning multiple awards from Manufacturers.
In 1969 Vauxhall decided they wanted a stand-alone showroom, so we bought here, formally known as Cains, and spent 2 years renovating the site to open in 1971 as Crosby Park Garage – A stand-alone Vauxhall dealership.
Over the next few years, we bought the adjacent old pig farm, dairy, undertakers and repair garages and built what you see today. Finished in 1978, we did it all ourselves as a Family.
Originally this showroom was the whole site with the workshop where the back offices currently are.
In 1975 we started with Toyota, but after 14 years import restrictions from Japan were still in force and as we grew, we couldn’t get the supply we needed, so we started with Fiat. We grew from 2 salesman & 2 mechanics to 4 of each as more supply was available.
We won the Fiat new dealer of the year award and dealer of the year for the next 5 years based on customer satisfaction and getting the repair right first time.
In 1992 we started with Nissan and have never looked back, winning multiple awards over the years including the prestigious Global dealer award for customer care, an extremely rare accolade.
In 2024 Nissan decided to reduce the number of dealerships by a `pins in a map` exercise and unfortunately, we were one of many.
Happily, we are still a Nissan Authorised Repairer which means we remain as a Main dealer repair centre, we just cannot supply new cars.
